Malaria Bites!
Malaria is an infectious disease caused by protozan parasites, the disease is transmitted through, Anopheles mosquitoes. Malaria is most often found in third world countries in Africa, South America and South Asia. Malaria is so common in these parts of the world due to lack of protection from the disease. Malaria is one of the easiest diseases to prevent if done right. The only requirments for preventing malaria are thin nets over beds and food supply. Although there is no vaccine, bug spray is also a way to keep the mosquitoes off and not get the disease. Malaria infects about 515 million people each year, although only 1 to 3 million of these people die each year. I think that malaria is something everyone can help, just last month, American Idol, had a 2 hour special in which people all around the world watched and donated money, about 76 million dollars were raised and this was given to protect all sorts of disease and etc. An exmaple of what the money went to was nets for preventing malaria.
